LItter Should we remove the litter bins?

8/8/2016

There is an idea put forward by some residents that  if the litter bins were removed dumping would improve as the bins encourage dumping
However others feel that this is not the case
Dumping tends to happen where there is low visibility from buildings and poor circulation of people at night. Good examples of this are at the top of Inchmery Road behind the Co-op where there is easy access for a vehicle to draw up and dump.
The long stretches of Penerley road which face on to the side walls of gardens
The Roads butting on to St Fillians. None of these have a public bin in view.
The belief is the link is that all these places are out of public view not their proximity to a public bin
If there were no bins where would the litter go that at the moment is actually put in the bins Would there be more litter blowing around the streets?
What is your view

Warning on Cold Callers

6/22/2016

One of our residents sent me a warning over cold callers so please be careful when opening the door to so called builders The email stated
"just had two young men come to the door saying they had had a call from rate a tradesman for a slipped tile on the roof, but they weren't sure of the house number. I said it wasnt me, they then pointed it out on a pinpoint on google maps that it could be my house and said I did actually have a slipped tile. I just said no. But they were just a little odd, asking if i owned the house. It may be nothing they did have a van and ladder. But why would they not have a phone number of whoever called them?
Just thought I would let you know in case anyone else reports similar. "

Please be careful when faced with this sort of situation do not agree to have any work done by cold callers always check and alert the SNT if you are at all concerned

Noisy Parties

5/9/2016

I know that many people have been disturbed by some very noisy parties in the area. Two Saturdays in a row!CGRA has been in contact with our councillors over this matter and the noise abbatment team. Unfortunately this team no longer give an out of hours service. The advice is to ring 101.  Given the level of noise residents have had to suffer the police are aware of the matter and are patroling the area. If you wish you may want to write to the council and ask how reasonable it is to disband the out of hours team, given that most parties happen at the weekend and during the night

would love to invite all of our valued customers to the first Catford Constitutional Club Festival!
We are organizing an amazing weekend full of live music, craft market, art, cinema and lovely vibes to raise money for the refugees living at the Calais Camp.
We would be delighted if we could have you celebrating the festival with us.
Closing time is 4 am both Friday and Saturday but last entry is at 1am.
Our kitchen closes at 9pm through the weekend as our restaurant will become the dance floor (but Burritos, Hot Dogs and Sandwiches will be served until 00:00!)
Come in and have a dance with us through the night, or have a walk around the craft market on Saturday afternoon!
We’ll have a massive raffle too!

UPDATE on Phoebes
Just to update everyone the new closing consultation date is March 30th.
Please keep your comments going as I know others find them very useful. CGRA's view is that we feel
It is too high, the design is not in keeping with the conservation area.
The density is too great
The impact on yet more parking will have an adverse effect on the area
Access for refuse lorries and a large fire engine may well prove a problem

There will  be residents who will rightly feel they will no longer be able to enjoy the privacy they once had
