CAMPAIGNS
This year we seem to be involved with several campaigns
The first one was the telecommunication mast you will be able to find more information on that under the named page.
THE PROPOSED 19 STOREY BLOCK between the 2 Catford Stations
I am sure bu now you will have all heard of this proposed plan. Please see below the information we have had from Stephen Armstrong
We have just heard that the planning application for the Catford Tower is on the agenda for Lewisham’s Strategic Planning Committee at their next meeting: 7.30 pm on Tuesday 22nd March in the Civic Suite in Catford. As many of you as possible need to be there! The recommendation of the planning officers is to GRANT PERMISSION so we have to stop this scheme in its tracks RIGHT NOW!
Strategic Planning Committee meetings are open to the public. Numbers make a big difference in a fight like this. There was a fantastic turnout at the Local Meeting; over 200 of us flooded the hall. We know it made a huge impression; that’s why Barratts are trying to rush the application through. The best chance of having Barratts’ application rejected is for even more people to come to the planning meeting. Make sure you are there and bring some friends!
Some good news! The petition now has over 1000 signatures, so thank you for continuing to spread the word. And a big thank you to those who have already written letters of objection to the planning department. We need many more of these, so in case you missed it I’ve attached part of my previous email below: it explains who to write to and how. The numbers of individual objections that planning officers receive will count for a lot towards the final decision. It’s also well worth lobbying your own local ward councillors; there’s a list of these at https://tinyurl.com/LewishamWards .
We are launching a fresh leafleting campaign to publicize the Planning Meeting on the 22nd. If you can help with that by leafleting your own street or part of it, please come to our next volunteers’ meeting at 7.30 pm next Wednesday 16th March upstairs in the Catford Constitutional Club, Catford Broadway, SE6 4SP. It will be great to see you. If you want to help but can’t make it on Wednesday, please write to us at [email protected] .
Thanks again for your support.
Stephen Armstrong
PS Here's how to lodge your own objection to Barratts' planning application if you haven't already done so:
If you live anywhere in Lewisham please lodge your objection as soon as you can. It’s best to write your own personal letter, but you are also welcome to use, adapt or just take ideas from a template letter that we have prepared. You can download this athttp://tinyurl.com/19SOLetter
Please write to Suzanne White, Planning Officer, quoting planning reference DC/15/94002, either by post to Laurence House, 1 Catford Rd, London SE6 4RU or by email to [email protected] If you do it by email, it would help us if you could copy your letter to us at [email protected] Please ask friends and neighbours to write as well.
